You can hear a lot of people talk about play-based learning, but not all play-based learning is the same. Adult-led play-based learning is a whole lot different than when we take our child's lead.

Play. It used to be about kids playing with each other, but that seems to be disappearing in favour of parent-child play. This is the first of a few planned posts coming up in the near future on play and focuses on my own realizations that it's something we actually need to work no in our society.

It used to be that baby toys were things like rattles and blocks that they could actually use to have fun with. Of course, this meant that babies really didn’t have toys at first because the motion of grasping a rattle or holding a block was well beyond them for the first few months of life.
