Educating The ExpertsTackling the common pieces of mainstream advice given to parents, Educating the Experts aims to arm parents with information that all experts should have, but seem to be missing.  By understanding these parenting practices as a part of the parent-child relationship and through a developmental lens, parents can see exactly how “experts” have been wrong in much of what they peddle.

This month’s webinar – in time for the holidays – is designed to help you handle the sometimes inevitable problems that come when your parenting comes into conflict with your extended family’s beliefs.  Whether it’s facing derogatory comments about your parenting or, even worse, others parenting your child in a manner wholly inconsistent with your beliefs, you need to know how to be prepared for what you do expect and what to do if you find yourself caught in the middle of it unexpectedly.  Running time will be approximately 1 hour including presentation and Q&A.

Date/Time: December 17, 2016 at 6pm EST

Cost: $20 (includes live webinar and download after)

November 2016 Webinar: The Myth of “Bad Habits”
**Available for Download**

Have you been told that letting your little one nurse to sleep is a “bad habit” you have to stop?  What about co-sleeping?  Rocking your baby?  Holding your baby while she sleeps?  These are all things families are told over and over again, yet these are all things that have a biological basis for an infant.  By focusing on why these practices exist biologically, I hope to help parents better understand their infant’s sleep and development and find ways to respect that when changes need to be made.

October 2016 Webinar: Welcoming a Sibling
**Available for Download**

We often take it for granted that our children will rebel or become jealous with the arrival of a new sibling.  That attention they are used to getting suddenly dries up as this new little being takes up so much of our time and energy.  This jealousy and anger at a new sibling not only goes against what we want for our kids (to love one another) but also can make parenting in the early months after a new arrival that much harder.  In this webinar, I talk about various ways to ease the transition for our children both before the arrival of a new sibling and after.  With ideas on how to manage time, maintain connections with your older children, and handle any bouts of jealousy or rivalry that do crop up, this webinar aims to help families transition with the arrival of a new baby, allowing them to focus on the joy that children bring.

September 2016 Webinar: Finding Daycare

In an ideal world, most parents would be able to take as much time at home with their babies as needed before returning to work; however, we don’t live in an ideal world. Although the model of a stay-at-home parent has been a part of modern history, allocare (or shared care of children) is actually a far more prominent model for human beings. As such, we shouldn’t view shared care as something inherently bad, but we should be aware of how modern care is falling short.

The webinar will focus on the main issues facing families who are looking for care for thier children. Questions such as “What is high-quality care?” and “What do should I ask from a caregiver?” are answered as well as plans for how to assess a daycare and what to do if your child doesn’t adjust well to their new daycare environment. The webinar will include a full presentation and time for some questions and answers.

This webinar is not available for download, but will be offered again in the future.
