“Overselling Breast-Feeding” Misses the Mark

Some claim that to choose a homebirth is "narcissistic". But what if we compare the risk of homebirth (only in the US, no less) with other common, modern-day practices, I think people need to reevaluate their stance or be ready to call out a lot more people!
When we say that breastfeeding in developed nations isn't really a big deal because we have clean water and low rates of disease, are we really thinking this through? What are we willing to accept both in these costs and in what women are trying to achieve but missing out on?
With modern technology comes modern interventions and techniques that warrant further discussion. Especially when it comes to birth. Through discussion and research we have come to see the inherent risks and benefits of practices like caesarean sections or the use of drug interventions. Another area that is starting to receive a lot of discussion is cord blood banking.
